The Journey Begins
Researchers involved in RESTART have collaborated for many years through international conferences, training programmes, synchrotron experiments and the African Light Source initiative.

Building Momentum
The project team has helped develop research communities across Africa through workshops, schools, exchange visits and collaborative scientific programmes.
As interest in renewable energy technologies and scientific infrastructure has grown, the need for advanced materials characterisation and accelerator expertise has become increasingly apparent.

The RESTART Project
RESTART was established to bring together expertise in renewable energy materials, synchrotron science and scientific capacity building.
The project represents an important step toward developing a sustainable community of researchers capable of driving innovation in both energy technologies and future large-scale scientific infrastructure.
